New Dollar Store robbed
Union County sheriff’s investigators are working to solve an armed robbery of the Dollar General Store at the Old Blue Ridge Highway and Kiutuestia Creek Road.
The robbery occurred at 8:25 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 8, Union County sheriff’s Detective Tom Mangifesta said.
The suspect is described as 26-30 years old, 5-foot, 10 inches to 6 feet, weighing approximately 180 pounds, Det. Mangifesta said.
The robber was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, Det. Mangifesta said.
The suspect is said to have been wearing faded jeans with a hole in the right knee, with some type of design on the right rear pocket, a long sleeve camouflage t-shirt, wine-colored sweatshirt with two horizontal white stripes across the front and some type of white crest over the left breast, and a large white design on the back. The suspect was wearing a gray ski mask/toboggan, Det. Mangifesta said. (See photos below.)
“The suspect was last seen running around the side of the store with the cash drawer,” Det. Mangifesta said. “Any agency finding a cash drawer, please hold for processing and contact the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division.”
